Welcome to the Phoenix BSD User Group!

We welcome all flavors (OpenBSD/FreeBSD/NetBSD/DragonFlyBSD).

We're focusing on the working role of BSDs (servers, routers, firewalls), but all interests are welcome.

If you know Linux and are curious about BSD then join us. You'll find a lot in common, and some pleasant surprises as well.

See the Community page for info on our mailing list & irc channel.

Jun-ichiro "itojun" Itoh Hagino

Jun-ichiro "itojun" Itoh Hagino passed away on October 29, 2007 at the age of 37.

To those in the BSD communities he was simply Itojun, best known in his role as IPv6 KAME project core researcher. Itojun did the vast majority of the work to get IPv6 into the BSD network stacks. He was also instrumental in moving IPv6 forward in all aspects through his participation in IETF protocol design meetings. Itojun was helpful to everyone around him, and dedicated to his work. He believed and worked toward making technology available to everyone. He will be missed, and always remembered.

See the OpenBSD Journal article for funeral details.

OpenBSD 4.1

My OpenBSD 4.1 sets have arrived! The official release date is May 1st, but I have them now. If you would like one (or more) you can pick up in the Phoenix East Valley area, get one at the upcoming PhxBUG (or PLUG) meeting, or I will mail it (free shipping). The price is $50, regardless. Yes, these are official CD sets purchased from the OpenBSD project.

If you prefer, you can order direct from OpenBSD. If you get OpenBSD from FTP and don't want the cool CDs, please donate to the project to support active development.

Announcing the MetaBUG

After starting the Capital Area BSD Users Group, founders Mike Erdely and Jason Dixon realized that other BUGs could benefit from the pooled resource and information sharing of user groups world-wide. They discussed their ideas with Darren Spruell and Darrin Chandler of the Phoenix BUG, and the MetaBUG began to take shape.

OpenBSD 4.1 Pre-Orders Available

Pre-Orders are now being taken for OpenBSD 4.1. No shipping date is guaranteed, but pre-orders will be filled first, in the order received!

Once again, I have placed a bulk order, so I'm in line ahead of you! If you would like to order directly from me, the price is US $50, with free shipping! I will only take orders within the USA.
