Welcome to the Phoenix BSD User Group! We welcome all flavors (OpenBSD/FreeBSD/NetBSD/DragonFlyBSD). We're focusing on the working role of BSDs (servers, routers, firewalls), but all interests are welcome. If you know Linux and are curious about BSD then join us. You'll find a lot in common, and some pleasant surprises as well. See the Community page for info on our mailing list & irc channel. POSTPONED: Due to other commitments this event will be rescheduled! Darrin Chandler will present a new, open source, tiling window manager for X. It's lightweight and fast, but still has many useful features. And you don't have to learn a new language to edit the config file! We will also celebrate the release of OpenBSD 4.6 and learn a bit about some of its new features and improvements. Official CD sets will be available for purchase ($50) for those who wish. As usual we will migrate to Casey Moore's for restorative cocktails and hearty, round-robin conversation. Free Software Stammtisch2009/09/15 - 7:00pm 2009/09/15 - 10:00pm The Free Software Stammtisch is a social environment for GNU, Linux, *BSD and Free Software enthusiasts. We start about 19:00 and run until we leave or 22:00, whichever is later :) We meet upstairs, but might have to occasionally meet downstairs in the pit if Boulders needs to schedule a private party. Boulders on Broadway worked on wireless access for us, so now we have a network, good food and good drinks. Boulders on Broadway has a large selection of beers to choose from and now carries Strongbow cider on tap. Boulders also carries mead from Falcon Meadery. German fries is the names for the freshmade chips they serve. OpenBSD 4.5 Release Party / Beer and BSD2009/06/02 - 7:00pm 2009/06/02 - 10:00pm
